Cleansing Foods Help The Body Heal


Detoxing and cleansing seems to be all the rage these days and it’s no wonder with all the diseases and maladies from which so many people (specifically Americans) are suffering. Not everyone knows that certain cleansing foods can cleanse your detoxification organs like the kidneys, intestines, liver and even your skin… organs which are used to prevent harmful toxic materials from building up in your body’s blood stream and being stored with fat in your body.

This helps you lose weight, feel better, have more energy, and think more clearly so you can function better in wherever you go and whatever you do.

You can help prevent the dire and sometimes painful effects of food additives, environmental pollution, and pharmacological toxins by consuming cleansing foods like nuts, beans, fruits, vegetables, and important natural oils.

Apples. (Yummy!) Apples are high in pectin. Pectin is a type of natural fiber that attaches to cholesterol and binds to heavy metals in your body. This natural cleansing food helps cleanse the intestines and removes toxic materials that build up there.

Avocados. (I love avocados!) If you want to lower cholesterol and open up those blood vessels this cleansing food is the way to go! A nutrient called Glutathione is found in the avocado and hinders dozens of nasty carcinogens and helps to detoxify the liver of synthetic and chemical materials.

Beets. That earthy goodness I refer to as colored, flavored dirt. As a cleansing food beets are known to help purify the blood and cleanse the liver. This “natural” among cleansing foods has several natural plant compounds within that delectable smooth beet texture that help the body cleanse the food.

Blueberries. (They go great in vanilla shakes!) Blueberries are one of those natural anti-inflammatory foods, the natural effect of which is to reduce pain from inflammation. This cleansing food also helps the urinary tract by stopping bacteria (as a natural antibiotic). Some studies suggest that blueberries have antiviral properties which help block toxic materials from passing through the blood-brain barrier in the brain.


Cleansing Foods Eliminate Waste From Your Body


Cabbage. (Who does not love cabbage?) This wonder among cleansing foods has several antioxidant and anticancer natural compounds which help break down excess hormones in the liver and strengthen the liver’s capacity to detoxify. As roughage it helps clean the digestive tract and counteracts some of the more heinously damaging compounds in cigarette smoke.

Cranberries. Many times are used to prevent urinary tract infections. This cleansing food contains natural antibiotic and antiviral substances.

Flaxseeds and Flaxseed Oil. As a cleansing food this is loaded with essential fatty acids, particularly the Omega-3s, flaxseeds and flaxseed oil are essential for many cleansing functions throughout the body.

Garlic. (Makes your breath smell great!) This cleansing food works as a natural antibiotic to cleanse harmful bacteria, intestinal parasites and viruses from your body, especially from the blood and intestines. It also helps cleanse build-up from the arteries and has anti-cancer and antioxidant properties that help detoxify the body of harmful substances. Additionally, as a cleansing food, garlic assists with cleansing the respiratory tract by expelling mucous build-up in the lungs and sinuses. Fresh garlic is the best for medicinal properties described above.

Grapefruit. (So tangy… and alive!) Grapefruit as a cleansing food has antiviral compounds which naturally remove harmful viruses out of the body. The pectin also binds to heavy metals and ushers them out of the body.

Kale. (I never liked the stuff… isn’t that what you feed your pet iguana?) As a cleansing food Kale has powerful anti-cancer and antioxidant compounds that help cleanse the body of dangerous chemicals. Kale helps cleanse the intestinal tract because it is high in fiber. Strengthens the liver and helps neutralize harmful compounds found in cigarette smoke.


Cleansing Foods Work Against Carcinogenic Compounds That Cause Cancer


Legumes. (Beans, Beans, The Magical Fruit…) As a cleansing food beans are fiber rich helping to reduce cholesterol, cleans the intestinal tract, and regulate those pesky blood sugar levels. Legumes also help protect the body against cancer.

Lemons. As a cleansing food lemons contain high amounts of vitamin C, a vitamin needed by the body to make an important substance called glutathione. Glutathione helps the liver detoxify harmful chemicals. Adding a squeeze of fresh real lemon juice (from the lemon not a bottle) to filtered clean water will help support your cleansing efforts on a daily basis.

Seaweed. (Bleck! I used to get that stuck around my feet at the beach!) However as a cleansing food it qualifies as a vegetable, a very valuable one at that! How about helping your body by binding to radioactive waste in the body? According to studies at McGill University in Montreal, seaweed also attaches to heavy metals to help remove them from the body. As the ocean is full of minerals and trace minerals they are an excellent source of such.

Watercress. As a cleansing food, watercress increases detoxification enzymes and acts on cancer cells in the body. Helps to remove various carcinogens.

Cleansing is awesome and cleansing foods are a natural awesome way to take care of your body… but who has time to keep track of that stuff? We know (or you should know) that we are not getting the best nutrition from the store bought produce because of over farming and contamination by pesticides. But we are not getting the nutrients we need especially from those packaged and processes foods that we Americans love to consume.

Some people use meal replacement shakes as a solution because they know that the contents of the shake have so many of these naturally occurring, organically grown, cleansing foods to be used as part of their healthy diet. Do you know what you are eating? Perhaps you should experience the difference yourself by replacing part of your food budget with intentionally consumed healthy shake meal replacements.
